A typical day in Year 5/6 starts with the following prayer:-
Lord may this candle be a light for you to enlighten me in my
difficult decisions and may it be a fire for you to purify me
from all pride and selfishness.
May it be a flame for you to
build warmth into my heart towards my
family, my neighbours and all those who meet me.
Through the prayers of Mary, virgin and mother, I
place in your care those I come to remember,
In leaving this candle, I wish to give you something
of myself. Help me to continue this prayer into everything I do
this day. Amen
During this prayer the children are invited to reflect and pray for their own special intentions through the intercession of Our Lady.
Afterwards we take the register and settle in to our daily routine!
In Year Five we have been reading the narrative poem ‘The Highwayman’ by Alfred Noyes. We will be doing some creative writing and would love to share our own narrative poems based on our own Highwayman once complete.
As always, we will continue to have a daily maths lesson, developing the pupil’s
knowledge, skills and understanding of this subject. The key areas of study include:
Pupils will be undertaking test practice, with the Y6 pupils thinking ahead to their end of year SATs tests.
