10th June

Lovely work from Clara! Well done.

Good morning lovely Nursery children and parents/ carers!

Lets's start with our morning prayer:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

God our Father, we have come to say

thank you for your love today.

Thank you for my family

and all the friends you give to me.

Guard me in the dark of night

and in the morning send your light

Mathematics

Do you remember 2D shapes? How many sides do they have? How many corners? How many points?

Are the sides the same length? Watch the shapes presentation and try to answer these questions.

  • Play 'Name 2D shape' game
  • Draw the basic 2D shapes: circle, triangle, rectangle, square
  • Use these shapes to draw a picture. What picture can you make?

Understanding the World

WATER

Yesterday we learnt that water is essential in our life. Where does the water come from? We have natural sources of water such as : ponds, lakes, rivers, seas and oceans. Do you like playing in the rain? You can get very wet doing it but it can be fun!

Where do we get water from at our house or school? We are very lucky that we have running water from our taps wherever we need it. At school we also have a water fountain for drinking and a little water fountain for watching and enjoying. In some countries people are not so lucky.  They have to walk a long way to get some clean drinking water and they carry it back to their homes.

The Water Song

Sources of water

What do we need water for? Can you imagine life without water? From the moment we get up, we use water for washing, brushing our teeth and using the bathroom. During the day, we drink water and eat food that was rinsed in or cooked in water. If you have pets at home they need water as much as we do. Can you think what else do we need water for? Would you like to play with water?

  • A sinking and floating experiment - fill a bowl with water and have a collection of small heavy and light objects. Look at each object and predict whether it will sink or float. have fun doing this experiment.
