29th June

Good morning lovely Nursery children and parents,

We hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed doing fun activities with your families at home and outside.

Let's make the Sign of the Cross and start with our special Nursery prayer.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit:

God Above me, God below me

God before me, God behind me,

God inside me.

In all the good things, in all the bad things,

Be with me by day, be with me by night,

Be with me by day and by night

Today is Monday, the beginning of the week. Do you remember the days of the week? How many are there?

What do you like doing at school? What do you enjoy doing at weekends?

What is the weather like today? Is it a sunny day?

What time of the year are we in? Yes, you are right - it is summer time. Now we can enjoy warm sunny weather and the days are very long. In fact, on Sunday the 21st June we had the longest day of the year.

This week we are going on a special journey to meet pirates. Do you know who pirates are? Pirates sailed in special ships looking for other boats and ships to attack. They robbed others, always looking for treasure.

Their flag is called the Jolly Roger and it is black with white crossbones and a skull. Pirates dressed in special clothes and hats. Some pirates wore black eye patches on one eye to make their other eye stronger for  better vision at night. Their favourite birds were parrots which sat on their shoulders. Pirates would carry special maps to help them find treasures. They loved gold, silver and precious stones.
