Good morning lovely children and parents!
In the Nursery, we start each day with the lighting of the candle to remind us that Jesus is with us. Maybe you could do that at home, sometimes, before you pray and then your child could be chosen to blow the candle out. Every class at school does this every morning.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass again us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil
TOPIC WORK - PIRATES
Many pirates liked to wear gold and silver jewellery because they believed it gave them good eyesight, very important, especially at night time. They took on different names to describe themselves for example:
pegleg, one-eyed, black beard. Famous pirates' names are Captain Blackbeard, Captain William Kidd, Redbeard or Black Bart. These names are called nicknames. Do you have a nickname at home? A special name your parents call you? If you don't have a nickname what would you like to be called?
Most pirated believed it was unlucky to have women onboard but that did not stop some women. They were as dangerous as the men. One of these women was Anne Bonney.
Pirates had special words for lots of different things, for example:
Ahoy - hello
Matey - friend
Booty - treasure
Aye - yes
Land ahoy - I can see land ahead
yo ho ho -something you say when you are happy
Tomorrow I am going to to teach you speak like a pirate.
Let's listen to a pirate story together:
Try to answer these questions:
What happened in the story?
How does the boy feel like?
Describe the boy
What is he looking for?
How does Sally Frank feel?
What would you do if you were in the story?
Would you run away in the end?
Would you make friends with Sally Frank?
