Please spread the word on behalf of Father Richard.

Good morning lovely children and parents!

Let's us start with a prayer.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:

God, our Father, we have come to say,

Thank you for your love today.

Thank you for my family

and all the friends you give to me.

Guard me in the dark of night

and in the morning send your light.

What day is it today?

It is Friday, the end of the week. It is a warm summer day. I hope you get lots of opportunities to play outside and exercise, maybe on scooters or bikes. The exercise is very important for us to stay healthy and strong.

Children at school enjoy playing with water. Maybe you can ask your grown ups to allow you to play with some soapy water, doing washing up, cleaning your toys or giving a bath to your dollies (or lorries).

I hope you enjoyed learning about pirates this week.

A game suggestion.

You could go on a treasure hunt. Get a box or a basket, put some treasure in it (could be toys, coins, sweets, some scrunched up newspaper, ribbons), close your eyes and put your hand inside. Describe what treasure you have found. Pull it out and check if you were correct. Repeat with other objects.

  • What is your favourite treasure and why ?
  • Why do you think pirates liked treasure ?
  • Was it easy to find some treasure?
  • What did they have to do to get some treasure

As it is the end of the week, it is golden time. After finding your treasure, have a pirate party. Put a scarf or a hat on, cover your eye with an eye patch and make some fairy cakes.

Here is the recipe;

  • 125 g salted butter
  • 125 g sugar
  • 125 g of self-raising flour
  • 2 eggs
  • vanilla flavouring or food colouring

  • Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4, 180 C, fan160 C. prepare 9 cupcake cases
  • Put the butter and sugar into a bowl and whisk until light and fluffy
  • Gradually add the eggs, beating between each addition
  • Sift the flour into the mixture and using a large metal spoon, then gently fold the flour in until well mixed
  • Add vanilla flavouring or food colouring (optional)
  • Spoon into the cases and cook for 18-20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean when inserted into the cake.

Enjoy the fairy cakes at your pirate party!
