With the exception of maths, all of today's tasks are focused on the 75th anniversary of VE Day, which is this coming bank holiday Friday. If you are still a little uncertain about what VE Day commemorates and celebrates click on the link below for some resources.
English Task
Your English task today is inspired by VE day.
You have to write a letter from the perspective of a child being evacuated from London. Many children left London and other large cities, during the war, to avoid the risk of bombing.
Watch the videos below to help you get a better understanding of what this would have been like. I have also attached a link to a page that contains lots of information about the evacuation of children, during WW2.
Use these resources to influence your writing and help you to include some rich, historical detail in your work. Remember to make your writing as descriptive as possible, and really try to get into the mindset of a child from this period.
Maths Task
Today's maths task is all about calculating perimeter and area. Click on the link below and select the video for lesson 4. When you have watched the video, download the questions and the answers. When completed, use the answers to check through your work.
VE Day History Task
As tomorrow is the 75th anniversary of VE Day, I would like you to create a fact file on this special celebration. Make sure that it is full of interesting facts and sketches.
I have also attached some fun VE Day activities. You may want to save some of these activities for tomorrow, so you can complete them on the actual day of celebration. There will be no new activities posted tomorrow, as it a bank holiday.
