English Task

 

Today's English task, continues the topic of persuasive writing and includes writing your own letter to the council. Read through the material carefully and complete the questions and activities.

Maths Task

 

Today is Friday and that can mean only one thing, another Friday maths challenge!

 

Click the link below and look at lesson 5. The first 5 challenges are designed for year 5 students, but why don't you challenge yourself and see how many you can complete.

 

 

Science Task

 

Today's science task the start of a new topic Adaptation, Inheritance and Evolution.

 

Please watch the videos below and take notes. Next, complete the attached worksheet. Then use the internet to do  some further research on the following topics

 

 

  • adaptation for climate
  •  camouflage 
  •  a case study: how an animal or plant of particular interest is adapted to its environment 

 

Your findings can be presented as a fact file or poster. 

 

I have also attached a video of an octopus, who scientists believe is using its camouflage while asleep and dreaming. You do not need to use this in your case study, I just thought it was amazing!

Art Task

 

This week we will be continuing with the topic of still life. Today you will be following the steps in the video below, to create a piece of still life art inspired by the work of Paul Cezanne. 

In the video, the artist uses paint, but you can use whatever you have at home instead.

Have fun and remember to send in any photos of your work, so that I can add them to the class page. If you scroll down the class page you will find the Artist of the Week section. This week, the artist is Salvador Dali. Dali is a master of the surreal and strange. If you have any work inspired by this artist, please also send it in.

History Task

 

Your history task for today is all about looking at Ancient Egypt's chronological position on a timeline.

 

Remember, chronological means in the correct order in relation to time. Click the link below to access the worksheet. Next, fill in each blank box, on the timeline, with an interesting fact about that period.

 

Extension: To further aid your understanding of where Ancient Egypt is placed on a timeline, please complete these additional tasks when finished.

 

What does BC mean?

 

What does AD mean?

 

Add one event to the timeline that is before the Ancient Egyptians chronologically. 

 

Add two events after WWII on the timeline and include facts.

 

You could even attempt creating your own timeline.
