Fri 12th June

Friday 12th June

Good morning brilliant children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!

Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Maths: This week we will be learning about one more and one less.

  • Star words you will need: one more, one less, add, subtract, take away, count, number, object, number line

Day 5: Choose a number card from 0-20. Find it and circle it on a number line. Show one more than the number by doing one jump forwards. Circle the number that you ‘land’ on. Say which number you land on. Find your starting number again. Show one less than the number by doing one jump backwards. Circle the number that you ‘land’ on. Say which number you land on. e.g. “I started with 16. I did one jump forward on the number line. I landed on 17. One more than 16 is 17. I started with 16. I did one jump back on the number line. I landed on 15. One less than 16 is 15.” Repeat this for a variety of numbers. Can you show one more and one less using objects?

Key questions: Can you show one more/less using a number line? Can you say one more/less than a number in a full sentence? Can you show one more/less than a number using objects?

Number Line to Print/Draw

Phonics: Join in with the video and spell words with the Set 2 sound oy. Say the word out loud. Have a go at sounding it out to work out how many sounds are in the word e.g. b-oy boy (2 sounds). Hold up that many ‘Fred Fingers’. Say the word. Sound it out and ‘pinch’ your fingers with each sound. Write the word. Underline the ‘special friend’ ‘oy’. Check your sounds with me.

RWI Set 2 spelling oy

Literacy: Use your story map to re-tell the story ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. What happens in the story? Write sentences to retell the middle of the story when the Three Billy Goats try to cross the bridge e.g. “The third Billy Goat trip trapped across the bridge. Who’s that trip trapping over my bridge?” Remember to use your ‘Fred Fingers’ when sounding out your words. Ask your adult to write the red words ‘the’ and ‘my’ on a piece of paper to help you. Challenge: Can you write the beginning, middle and end of the story?

Idea of the day: Enjoy the song ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’. Can you join in? Can you do actions to go along with the song? Can you make up your own song about the billy goats or the troll?

I hope that you have a lovely weekend. Get some fresh air if you are able to and have a rest from school activities. I will speak to you again on Monday. I am thinking of you.
