Friday 17th July
Good morning brilliant children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!
Join me at 2:30 pm on Google Classroom for a final class chat! This will be our last class chat so please make sure you can join. There will be a link to click on the ‘stream’ to join the chat. See you there!
Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
As it is our last week together in Reception, we will be celebrating with ‘themed’ days. Each day there will be a different theme. There will be a story and a variety of activities linked to each theme.
Today’s theme is Dinosaurs!
Story of the day: Listen to the story ‘Tyrannosaurus Drip’. Ask your adult to explain any words that you don’t understand. What happens in the story? What is your favourite part of the story? Why? You could draw a picture or write a sentence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5gzjddXDXc
Research and choose a species of dinosaur e.g. stegosaurus. Ask an adult to help you use the internet. What can you find out about it? Can you make a fact file about it?
Make a dinosaur shape picture. Draw 2D shapes and cut them out. Arrange them to make a dinosaur! What colours will you need? What shapes will you need?
Create a dinosaur egg with paper mâché. Blow up a balloon or scrunch some newspaper to make a ball and secure it with masking tape. Make a glue mixture with one cup of PVA glue and one cup water. Tear up pieces of newspaper, cover them in glue and cover your ‘egg’. Let the layer dry and do another. Decorate your egg.
Make a salt dough dinosaur footprint. Mix four cups of flour and one cup of salt. Add the water while stirring. Mix with your hands and knead until the dough it soft. Roll out your dough. Ask your adult to supervise you using a cutter of a knife. Use a toy or your fingers to make a footprint. Leave to set on a piece of baking paper. Decorate your footprint. You could paint it.
Create a dinosaur swamp! Ask an adult to supervise you using liquid. Use a tray/bowl or over your sink/bath. Use containers to pour liquid in. What could you add? How will you measure your liquid? You could mix some leaves, twigs etc. You could add some food colouring to change the colour.
Make a dinosaur. Use objects from your home to build it. You could use junk modelling, Lego, Duplo etc. Can you describe it? Can you label it?
Thank you for being such a wonderful and special class. I have enjoyed teaching you so much. Good luck in Year 1! Your new teacher is very lucky. I have a present for you to say thank you. If you aren’t in my ‘pod’ at school, I will keep it safe for you until I see you. Have a wonderful summer holiday and see you across the hall in September. I have recorded a ‘goodbye’ video for you. I will miss you very much!
