Friday 3rd July
Good morning brilliant children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!
Join me at 2:30 pm on Google Classroom for a class chat! There will be a link to click on the ‘stream’ to join the chat. See you there!
Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Maths: This week we will be learning about doubling.
Day 5: Doubling means adding equal amounts. This is a type of addition called repeated addition where you add the same amount. You count how many objects you have and add the same amount. Collect 20 objects from your home e.g. toys, paperclips. Choose a number between 1-10. Count and put that many objects into a group. Double your amount by putting the same amount of objects into another group. Count all the objects to work out the double. Say it in full sentences. E.g. “Double 8. 8 objects in this group. 8 objects in the other group. There are 16 objects altogether. Double 8 is equal to 16.” Repeat this for a variety of numbers. Challenge: Can you write it as an equation? E.g. 8 + 8 = 16.
Key questions: Can you double an amount? How many objects are in the left group? How many objects are in the right group? How many objects are there altogether? Can you say it in a full sentence?
Phonics: Join in with the video and learn the Set 3 sound are. Look at the letters and say the sound that they make. Have a go at sounding out words that have these sounds in e.g. care, share, spare. Use your ‘Fred Fingers’ pinching each finger while you say each sound, before blending it together e.g. c-are care. Have a go at writing these words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GL9ZjVGWLcI
Literacy: Use your story mountain to re-tell the story ‘Hansel and Gretel’. What happens in the story? Write sentences to retell the end of the story when Hansel and Gretel escape from the witch e.g. “The witch locked Hansel up. Gretel had to clean. Gretel tricked the witch. She pushed her in the oven!” Remember to use your ‘Fred Fingers’ when sounding out your words. Ask your adult to write the red word ‘the’ on a piece of paper to help you. Challenge: Can you write the beginning, middle and end of the story?
Idea of the day: Listen to the song ‘Delicious Children!’ Can you join in with the actions? Can you make up your own? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=medLkLlNpL4
I hope that you have a lovely weekend. Get some fresh air if you are able to and have a rest from school activities. I will speak to you again on Monday. I am thinking of you superstars.
