Good morning Year 1! Today is Friday 15th May. We are now in Summer Term week 4.
Happy Friday Year 1! Today is a special day because not only because we are the last day of the week but because it is Simon's birthday! Happy Birthday to Simon! Today he is six years old. Wow! So very grown up now. We all hope you have a wonderful day Simon and that you enjoy your special day. We shall all sing Happy Birthday to you!
Today you have English, Maths and DT tasks to complete. A big well done for all of your super star learning this week! I'm so proud of my Year 1's and can't wait to see you hopefully soon.
Let's start the day with a prayer.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Phonics and handwriting
Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.
Today is your spelling test, time to show your mummies and daddies how clever you are! Please see the new spellings words in the page below.
In English today we will be learning more about poetry. First read the poem Goodnight and then write two or three sentences about what different things could have given the person in the poem a fright. Remember to use your golden sentences with neat and clear handwriting. The next task is to create your own jumbled poem about Breakfast Time using the template. Finally re-write your jumbled poem in your very best handwriting. Enjoy!
Today's activity focuses on division using pictures and arrays.
Today's activity focuses on designing a boat that floats using the DT step-by-step model - RESEARCH, DESIGN, MAKE, EVALUATE.
Can you remember the steps in a design process?
Read through Powerpoints to research different materials and types of boats. Then, complete 'My Design Project Booklet'.
Please note that this task can carry on into the weekend. This will be your homework to give you more time to complete. It is a junk modeling task, so be sure to use as many recycled materials you already have around your home. Good luck, have fun and I can't wait to see some lovely designs. Send in all your pictures when you have completed the task.
