Friday 1st May

Happy Friday Year 1!

Morning message - 01.05.20

What is the date today? Remember to use full sentences.

Did you notice anything different when you said the date today?

Let's start the day with a prayer.

Father in heaven You love me.

You are with me night and day.

I want to love You always,

In all I do and say.

I'll try to please You Father.

Bless me through the day.

Did you know that the first Friday in May is Space Day! Do you remember learning all about the astronauts with Mrs Mendelssohn? Remember Neil Armstrong and Helen Sharman? Today we have some fun space activities for your design task. Everyone get ready for take off! 3...2...1...

Who has been doing PE with Joe every morning? What a fun way to wake up and get active! If you haven't tried it, now is your chance. Check out the link below.

  • Maths: Difference between prices
  • Design and Technology (DT): Space day craft designs

Daily handwriting and phonics

Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.

ENGLISH - Today's activity focuses on nocturnal animals. These are night creatures. Do you know any?

Night Animals

When you are home in bed fast asleep, these animals are wide awake!

Nocturnal Animal Song

You can learn more about nocturnal animals on the National Geographic for Kids website.

MATHS - ***Please note that money is a new topic for children covered in Summer term*** Today's activity focuses on finding the difference between prices. We will be subtracting. This is similar to yesterday's activity when we found the change.

I have chosen the biscuits for 20p and the lolly for 6p. I need to start with the biggest number first because I am subtracting. The difference between 20 and 6 is 14.
