Friday 26th June

Good Morning Year 2

Challenge:  Listen to the audio of me reading the morning message.  Can you read along as I speak?

Miss Writer's Morning Message

Today is Friday 26th June, 2020 and it is nearly the weekend!  If you have done all the activities, you have worked really hard. Remember you don’t have to do all the activities and challenges.  Just try your best and have a go.

Did you know that today is... National Cream Tea Day?!  Can you remember where in the UK cream teas originate from?

In honour of Cream Tea Day, I have posted a scone recipe, which is absolutely delicious because I have made them.  Maybe you can make them with you family this weekend.

Very soon, we have our first live SHOW AND TELL so remind yourself which group you are in.  I will see you later.

Check the Mathletics page to see if you have earned a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate for June.

If your name isn't up there, don't worry. Keep doing Mathletics daily and earning points and you can earn a certificate for the month of June.

Joke of the Day!

Person 1: Knock-knock.
Person 2: Who's there?

Have you ever had a babysitter?  I remember having one when I was little.  I also remember my brother, sister and I having to write a letter of apology for not being on our best behaviour.

What do you think makes a good babysitter?  Someone who lets you eat lots of sweets?  Lets you watch television all night long?  Maybe someone who can fly?!

Today, you will write an advert for the perfect babysitter.  Have fun!

1) Watch the video.  Are the questions the children ask good qualities for a babysitter?

2) Answer the questions in the Question Booklet for Day 5.

Activity 4 - PSHE

Today, we are going to learn about something called racism.  Have you ever heard of this word?  In class, we discussed that we are all different and unique and this is what makes us special.  We value and appreciate each other because of our differences.  Racism is the opposite of this.

1)  Watch this story called A Kids Book About Racism by Jelani Memory.

2) Think about these questions as you watch it.  If you are watching with an adult, you can discuss these questions afterwards:

  • What is racism?
  • What small ways can racism show up?
  • Is it bad to be different?
  • Why is it good to be different?
  • Who can you tell if you see someone being treated badly for the colour of their skin?  (Think about if you were at school).
