Let’s start our day with a prayer.

 

Our Father who art in Heaven, 
Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Daily handwriting and phonics/reading: Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics and continue reading each day. smiley

 

 

 

 

English: Complete your weekly spelling test on contractions.

 

 

 

 

 

Maths: If you have not checked out Mathetlics this week, please take a look at the time activities to help you with our learning the last two weeks.

 

 

Mental Maths: Can you complete the following addition and subtraction questions? Remember when we add our answer gets bigger and when we subtract out answer gets smaller.

 

 

 

 

Design Technology (DT): Today's activity focuses on designing a kite that can fly using the DT step-by-step model RESEARCH, DESIGN, MAKE, EVALUATE.

 

This is a junk modeling task so try to use as many recycled materials you have at home. Some examples include: plastic bags, bin liners, plastic straws, string etc.

 

 

Remember in DT we start out with a brief (problem to be solved).

 

Kite Brief:

Sally's friend can not find her friend in the park. She needs something that will make her stand out so her friend can find her. Can you help her design a kite that can fly in the sky? Then Sally's friend can follow the kite to find her. enlightened

 

Success criteria:

  • You must use two different materials.
  • Your kite must be a 2-D shape.
  • Your kite must fly in the wind.

First, read through the research about kites

Next, design your kite. Think about what shape it will be and what materials you will use. Complete the 'Design a Kite' worksheet below.

Then, make your kite. Put all your design ideas together to create a kite that can fly.

Let's Make a Kite!

Last, evaluate your kite. What worked well? What did not work? Would you change anything for next time? Did you use at least two different materials? Is your kite a 2-D shape? Does your kite fly?

 

Have fun! Once you have finished why not take your kite outside or to the park to fly around on a windy day. Don't forget to send me your wonderful pictures. laugh
