Friday 5th June

Mr Griffin's Good Morning Message

Good morning everybody!

It is 5th June and it's Friday!

Q: When do astronauts eat?

A: At launch time!

I hope you enjoy the activities I have set for you today. Try your hardest with the tests!

Please pray the Lord's Prayer with me.

Let us start our day by praying the Lord's Prayer together:

Our Father, who art in Heaven,

hallowed be Thy name,

Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done

on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day, our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespasses

as we forgive those that trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

NB You need the animal diary entry that you planned yesterday.

1. Story time

Read and enjoy Diary of a Kangaroo

  • Who causes more trouble – the wombat in Diary of a Wombat or the kangaroo here!?

2Getting ready to write

  • Studying the Diary of a Kangaroo. Identify features of recounts.
  • Look for examples of Wombat’s Conjunctions being used to link ideas in sentences.

3. Writing time

Make a Mini Writing Book to write your animal diary entry from the plan you produced yesterday.

  • Make sure you use the layout and language features of a diary.
  • Keep your writing in the past tense. Try to include verbs in the progressive form of the past tense.
  • Write in full sentences and use conjunctions to link ideas.
  • If you have time, why not write the next day’s diary entry as well? What trouble will your creature cause then?

Fun Challenge:

  • Add pictures to your story and read it aloud to your family.
  • Are your family glad they don’t have your animal living nearby?
