Wisdom & Faith

Dear children,

I encourage you to practise your handwriting in your home handwriting books. There are more activities below that you can try too. You can practise writing your single letters, words or numbers. Remember to sit up like a tall solider, start at the top or middle of the letter or number and go in the right direction. I can't wait to see how good your letters and numbers look when I see you next!

Miss Tanner

In year 1 children are expected to:

  • sit correctly at a table, holding a pencil comfortably and correctly
  • begin to form lower-case letters in the correct direction, starting and finishing in the right place
  • form capital letters
  • form digits 0-9
  • understand which letters belong to which handwriting 'families' (i.e. letters that are formed in similar ways) and to practise these.

Remember your letter rules.
