Good morning lovely children. I hope that you had a good weekend. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!

 

 

Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Maths: This week we will be learning about addition.

  • Star words you will need: add, addition, is equal to, equation, number, object, number bond, ten frame, part, whole, part-part-whole model

 

Day 1: Use your hands to show number bonds (different ways to make) to 10. Put different combinations of fingers/thumbs up and down to show how to make 10. How many ways can you make 10? E.g. 5 fingers up and 5 fingers down. Say it in a full sentence e.g. “I have 5 fingers up and 5 fingers down. 5 and 5 makes 10. 5 add 5 is equal to 10.” Can you write it as an equation? E.g. “5 + 5 = 10”.

 

Key questions: Can you show number bonds to 10 using your hands? How many different ways can you make 10? Can you say the equation in a full sentence? Can you write an equation?

Addition with Fingers Example

Phonics: Join in with the video and go over the Set 1, 2 and 3 sounds. Look at the letter(s) and say the sound that they make. Sound out words that have these sounds in e.g. and, not, back. Use your ‘Fred Fingers’ pinching each finger while you say each sound, before blending it together e.g. a-n-d and. Listen to the red words and repeat them. Remember that we can’t sound out red words. Literacy: Listen to the story ‘Cinderella’. Can you think of any actions to go with the words? Ask your adult to explain any words that you don’t understand. Idea of the day: Design an outfit for Cinderella or the Prince to wear to the ball. You could use a pencil and paper or technology e.g. an iPad, laptop. Use material from your home to make it. You could use paper, tissue, felt etc. Take a picture of your outfit.
