Good morning Year 1! Today is Monday 18th May. We are now in Summer Term week 5. This is now the last week before our half term break next week.
I hope you had an excellent weekend. Maybe you played outside? Perhaps you did some baking or created a beautiful picture, whatever you got up to I hope you had fun! How did you get on creating your boats? I would love to see some pictures of them.
I went to the beach with my dog and family. We had a little picnic and I collected some shells, the water was a bit too cold to have a swim in though!
My dog got a little muddy on the walk back!
Today is an extra special Monday because yesterday Camilla and Victoria turned 6! Happy Birthday! A double celebration! We all hope you had the best day yesterday and that you had a delightful time. We shall all sing Happy Birthday to you!
This morning you have Liturgy. Today you have English, Maths and RE tasks to complete. I hope you have a marvelous day!
Let's start the day with a prayer.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Phonics and handwriting
Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.
This week we will be learning more about suffixes. A suffix is a word part that's added to the end of a root word to change the meaning.
We will be focusing on the suffixes er and est.
Tallest Taller Tall
Have a look through the PowerPoint and get practising!
Today in English we will be enjoying the story No Thank You! and will then recall the events in the story. You will need to sequence the story in the correct order matching the animals to their food.
Remember to use sequence words.
The focus today will be to write each pair out under the pictures. The giraffe and the fish, The pelican and the branch, etc.
Remember we use 'and' in sentences to connect two parts of the sentence together.
Make sure you use your golden sentences using capital letters, full stops and fingers with beautiful handwriting.
Today's activity focuses on whole fractions and halves.
Please refer to the White Rose website under Summer term - Week 2 to watch the learning video for Lesson 1: Find a half (2).
Today we will be learning more about Pentecost. Last week we learnt about how Jesus kept his promise and sent the Holy Spirit to everyone on earth.
Today we will be getting ready to celebrate Pentecost. Pentecost is the Church's birthday! Choose between the three different tasks. You can make a birthday card for the church, a special Pentecost flame hat or you can make Pentecost decorations to celebrate the day!
