Key questions to ask your child and get them to answer in full sentences!

They don’t need to write the answer – this is a speaking task - questions and answers - being able to have a conservation and speak in a full sentence.

We try and get the children to talk in a full sentence rather than just one work answers.

What day was it yesterday?

What day is it tomorrow?

What NEW month is it?

A little reminder for parents:

There are more sounds to learn in year one, so it is very important your child knows these sounds that we have been learning in reception so they can focus on the year 1 phonics.

There is also a phonics test in year 1 – set by the government – so if the children know the reception sounds now they can focus on the new more difficult sounds in year 1.
