Let's start the day with a prayer.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

Monday Morning Liturgy

Phonics and handwriting

Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.

This week we are learning more about adding plural markers -s and -es to nouns. Remember nouns are people, places, things, animals or ideas.

For today's task first review the PowerPoint on what plurals are and the special rules for adding -s or -es. Then complete the activity by changing singular nouns into plural nouns. Choose which level you want to try. The more difficult one you had to write the singular noun on your own.

Challenge: Can you use some your new plural nouns in sentences?

Read and enjoy the poem My Mother is a Superhero by Pie Corbett and answer a series of questions about the text. Make sure you use your best handwriting.

These are some reasons why mummies are superhero's!

-  Mums make sure you never go hungry.

- Mums are there when you need them any time of the day.

- Mums always make you better when you are poorly.

- Mums can multi-task all the time.

- Mums know what you're thinking before you start talking.

- Mums have endless amounts of love.

Write a poem about a family member that mimics the form and themes of My Mother is a Superhero.

Use the conjunction and to join ideas in your sentences. For example; My mum makes amazing pizzas and reads to me at night.

This week we are starting our last new maths concept in Year 1: TIME! Today we are going to start to understand the concept of what time is.

Can you sort the pictures into morning, afternoon and evening? As an extra challenge try to think of your own things you do at these times of day. How long do they take you?

Last week we learned about saying sorry and forgiveness. It is important for us to say sorry and ask for forgiveness when we do something wrong. When someone asks for our forgiveness it is important that we accept their apology so our heart will feel better and we will be happier. It is not nice to stay angry all the time.

For today's task think of ways you can be more like Jesus. How can you follow Jesus' rule of loving one another. Start by going through the learning slides below - pages 21-30.
