Good morning Year 1! Today is Friday the 3rd of April. Today is the last day of school because it's the Easter holidays! I will leave the calendar blank for the holidays, if you want to practise saying the days on your own. How did your Easter egg pattern designs turn out yesterday? I bet they're beautiful. Make sure you look at the special task at the top of the page.
I hope you all have a safe and happy Easter holiday and that the Easter bunny brings you some yummy treats. It's hard work being a parent and also a teacher, so make sure to give your superstar home school teachers a giant hug, and make sure you're extra good over the holidays! Thank you to all parents for your continued support. I will be back with morning messages on Monday the 20th of April. I miss you all!
Easter is a very special time. We celebrate the death and coming to life again of Jesus Christ. Palm Sunday is on Sunday the 5th of April, when Jesus arrived to Jerusalem and everyone praised him waving palm leaves. Good Friday is on the 10th of April, when Jesus died on the cross. Easter Sunday is on the 12th of April, when Jesus rose again from the dead.
Weekend/Easter holiday tasks: Feel free to do activities on the class page as there's lots to do. I encourage children to stay active and creative - as well as to continue reading each day and use Mathletics and Lexia. Take a look at the chick on the homepage to find all the Easter activities (then under Art & Design). Perhaps you want to make an Easter basket for your eggs, a fun Easter hat or an Easter card for someone in your family. Painting Easter eggs is a super fun thing to do too. I've also added some fun scavenger hunts you can do at home. Find them under Additional Resources.
Good morning Year 1! Today is Thursday the 2nd of April. If you go for a walk, look for flowers starting to bloom. I’ve added a calendar so you can practise saying the day of the week, the date, the month, the season and the weather, just like we do at school J I hope you’re having a great week and doing lots of playing. Make sure you look at the special task at the top of the page.

Good morning Year 1! Today is Wednesday the 25th of March. Wishing a happy birthday today to Chioma who is 6 years old. Make sure you sing Chioma happy birthday from where you are!
I hope you are keeping busy and being good Today I want you to think of 3 things you’re thankful for and share them with someone in your home. Miss Tanner is thankful for having a safe home to stay inside, being able to speak with my family and friends on the phone and the nice warm sunshine.
Today‘s task: Write 3 sentences using the conjunction ‘and’ in your green books. This can relate to what you’re thankful for, if you’d like.
1. Miss Tanner is missing you and everyone at St Mary’s.
2. I am thankful for the sunshine and flowers.
3. It was sunny and the birds were singing.
Good morning Year 1! Today is Tuesday the 24th of March. Did you know that on Friday it was the first day of Spring? Hopefully you were able to enjoy some of the sunshine and fresh air in your gardens or at the park. I know things are not as they normally are, but I want you to know all your teachers are thinking about you! Make sure you’re showing lots of love at home and being a great helping hand, like you do at school.
Today’s task: Complete the following 10 mental maths questions in your pink books. Remember to write the date and use one digit in each box. Remember when we add we count forwards. Hold the big number in your head and count on. Use your fingers if you need to!
Good morning Year 1! Today is Monday the 23rd of March. It is week 5. What did you do at the weekend? I hope you all got your home learning pack. Time to show mummy and daddy how smart you are!
Today's task: Write a short recount of your weekend in your green exercise book. Remember your golden sentence rules - Capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and read it again to make sure it makes sense. Don't forget to include a beautiful picture.
