At St Mary’s we teach, share and live the Gospel values of a Catholic Christian community. We recognise the value of all faiths and respect those who follow other paths. Each week we celebrate through prayer, song, readings and silence to deepen our understanding of God and to help one another grow spiritually. Children and adults worship together and each class takes on the responsibility of leading liturgies to which parents and friends are always welcome.
We follow the ‘Come and See' Religious Education programme as recommended by the Archdiocese of Southwark. In all key stages the themes of each RE subject are explored and taught through lessons and liturgy times. Children are invited to reflect on their learning and to record their thoughts in a special book that lasts throughout their time in each key stage. At St Mary’s, we value the opportunity to learn about other faiths and study two world religions each year.
It is our aim that children leave St Mary’s with a firm foundation in Catholic doctrine and the confidence to reflect on their beliefs throughout their future lives. We hope that all children can develop an awareness of themselves through silence and always be mindful of how to help others in the world.
Please see our 'Catholic Life' page (which can be found in the 'About Us' section of the website) for more information about the special events that take place at St. Marys.
