Reading

I encourage you to read a little each day. You can read by yourself or with someone in your family. You can also join me for storytime to listen to some fun read alouds.

Reading with young children

Prof. Ruth Merttens helps you with tips for developing your child's reading skills. Read with your child and help to develop their higher level and lower level (technical) literacy skills.

Reading is very important to a child's learning for many reasons. Some of these reasons are:

  • Improves vocabulary
