Wisdom & Faith

Thurs 16th July

Thursday 16th July

Good morning wonderful children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!

Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

As it is our last week together in Reception, we will be celebrating with ‘themed’ days. Each day there will be a different theme. There will be a story and a variety of activities linked to each theme.

Today’s theme is Pirates!

Story of the day: Listen to the story ‘The Pirates Are Coming!’. Ask your adult to explain any words that you don’t understand. What happens in the story? What is your favourite part of the story? Why? You could draw a picture or write a sentence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5ADmDKLSnQ

The Pirates Are Coming! read aloud

Activities:

Use a cardboard box to create a treasure chest. Can you decorate the outside? You could use felt tip pens or paint. What will you fill your treasure chest with?

Make a ‘wanted poster’ for a pesky pirate! What does the pirate look like? Can you draw a picture of them? Can you label your picture? Can you write sentences to describe your pirate?

Explore money. Ask your adult to show you some coins or notes. What shapes do you notice? What numbers can you see? What colours do you notice? What size are the coins/notes?

Make a treasure map. Tear the edges of a pieces of paper. Can you help a pirate to find the treasure? Where will the treasure be? It could be on the land or in the sea. Use a ‘x’ to mark the spot. What colours will you need? Can you make a key? E.g. yellow for sand.

Use materials you have at home to make a pirate ship. You could use blue tack, tinfoil or lego. Will it float? Test it out with some water. Ask your adult to supervise you using some water.

Make a pirate outfit! You could use paper to create a sword. You could make a hat or an eye patch! Take a picture in your outfit.
