Thursday 18th June
Good morning wonderful children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!
Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Maths: This week we will be learning about addition.
Day 4: Listen to the video about the part-part-whole model. Collect 20 objects from your home e.g. pens, toys. Put the 20 objects into the whole section. 20 is the whole. Separate your 20 objects into the two parts. How many objects are in each part? Count each part. What is the whole? Count the whole (how many objects there are altogether). You could write the numbers down. How many ways can you make 20? E.g. 15 objects in one group and 5 objects in the other group. Say it in a full sentence e.g. “I have 15 objects in this part and 5 objects in this part. The whole is 20. 15 and 5 makes 20. 15 add 5 is equal to 20.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6diWB67vdM
Key questions: Can you show how to make 20 using a part-part-whole model? How many different ways can you make 20? Can you say the equation in a full sentence?
Phonics: Join in with the video and spell words with the Set 3 sound a-e. Say the word out loud. Have a go at sounding it out to work out how many sounds are in the word e.g. m-a-k(e) make (3 sounds). Hold up that many ‘Fred Fingers’. Say the word. Sound it out and ‘pinch’ your fingers with each sound. Write the word. Show the ‘special friend’ ‘a-e’. Check your sounds with me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1RWqa1iGqg
Literacy: Re-tell to the story ‘Cinderella’. What happens in the story? What do the characters do? What do they say? Make a story mountain to show what happens in the story. Draw an outline of a mountain and draw the main parts of the story. Your pictures don’t have to be the same as mine but they may give you some ideas. Can you label your pictures? Remember to use your ‘Fred Fingers’ when sounding out your words.
Idea of the day: Listen to the alternative versions of ‘Cinderella’. Which version do you like best? Why? What is the same about the stories? What is different about the stories? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9zfFRDaqHE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqbH_ebxsLw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSVfIc4l8Lk
Bonus idea: Today is Mrs Cooling’s birthday! Can you make her a birthday card? Fold a piece of paper to make a card. Draw a picture on the front and write a message inside. Take a picture of your card and email it to me so I can send it to Mrs Cooling!
