Good morning wonderful children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!



Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.


Maths: This week we will be learning about counting and ordering numbers.

  • Star words you will need: count, order, numbers, numeral (written number), quantity, amount, object, number line, number square


Day 4: Make a number line with numbers from 0-20. Use the picture below to have a look at a number line. Draw a line along a piece of paper. Make lines to separate your numbers. Write the numerals from 0-20. Choose a number on your number line. Count out that many objects. Repeat this for a variety of numbers.


Key questions: Can you make a number line? Can you say how many objects you have in a full sentence? Can you put the objects in a line? Can you say one number for each object that you touch? Can you extend your number line above 20?

Phonics: Join in with the video and spell words with the Set 2 sound ar. Say the word out loud. Have a go at sounding it out to work out how many sounds are in the word e.g. c-ar car (2 sounds). Hold up that many ‘Fred Fingers’. Say the word. Sound it out and ‘pinch’ your fingers with each sound. Write the word. Underline the ‘special friend’ ‘ar’. Check your sounds with me.

Literacy: Re-tell to the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. What happens in the story? What do the characters do? What do they say? Make a story map to show what happens in the story. Use arrows to show the next part in the story. Your pictures don’t have to be the same as mine but they may give you some ideas. Remember that you can repeat the pictures for repeated refrains. Can you label your pictures? Remember to use your ‘Fred Fingers’ when sounding out your words.

Idea of the day: Listen to the alternative versions of the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. Which version do you prefer? Why? Do you believe the wolf? Why? Why not?
