Good morning everyone!

Smile big today. laughlaughlaugh

Morning message - 11.06.20

Let’s start our day with a prayer.

Father in heaven You love me.

You are with me night and day.

I want to love You always,

In all I do and say.

I'll try to please You Father.

Bless me through the day.

Join Malachi for his fun read aloud called Handa’s Cow. Remember you can send in an audio or video of you reading a book you made or any story you like.

  • Daily handwriting and phonics/reading
  • Grammar: Write numbers 0-20 as words
  • English: The Mouse, the Frog and the Little Red Hen
  • Maths: Capacity and Volume
  • Science: Review topic on Plants

Daily handwriting and phonics/reading: Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics and continue reading each day. smiley

Grammar: Practise for your spelling test tomorrow by looking, saying, covering and then trying to write your number words. How many can you get correct? This will help you to know which ones you need to practise more. smiley

Sight Word Rap Numbers

This sight word song is about number sight words.

English: Read the story The Mouse, the Frog and the Little Red Hen. Read a set of adjectives and match these to characters in the story. Think of more adjectives to describe the characters. Use the conjunction and to write two-clause sentences about events from the story.

Maths: Today we are going to learn about capacity and volume. Use the video below to help with today's task.

Review these words:
container, holds, empty, almost/nearly empty, half full, full, almost/nearly full, more, less

Introduce capacity and volume

Science: We are finishing our topic on Plants. Did you enjoy this topic? What did you learn? Remember at the beginning of the topic we completed the first two parts of our KWL chart - what we know and what we want to know. Now we are going to complete the 'L' part - what have we learned?

Recap on what we've learned:

  • Different parts of a plant and what they do (roots, stem, leaf, flower/petal)
  • Garden plants and wild plants
  • Different parts of trees (roots, trunk, branches, leaves)
  • Different types of trees (deciduous and evergreen)
  • Lifecycle of a sunflower

Today's task: Design a plants poster! You can make your poster on a A4 piece of paper, or perhaps you want to make it even bigger by attaching a few pieces paper or card together.

Here are some ideas of what to include on your poster:

  • Title including the word plants
  • Pictures of things you learned
  • Words you learned
  • Catchy phrases
