Let's start the day with a prayer.

The Lord's prayer, or Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen.

Phonics and handwriting

Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.

Practise for your spelling test tomorrow by looking, saying, covering and then trying to write your number words. How many can you get correct? This will help you to know which ones you need to practise more.

Read and enjoy The Mouse, The Frog and The Little Red Hen. Look at the set of Story Character Describing Words. Think carefully about all the hard-working things that Hen does in the story. Draw pictures of hen doing one of these hard-working things. Write sentences using the word and about the things that hen does in the story. Do the same thing for Mouse and Frog and what they do when Hen is working so hard.

Today we are going to learn about capacity and volume. Use the video below to help with today's task.

Review these words:
container, holds, empty, almost/nearly empty, half full, full, almost/nearly full, more, less

Maths- Task 2- Introduce capacity and volume

We are finishing our topic on Plants. Did you enjoy this topic? What did you learn? Remember at the beginning of the topic we completed the first two parts of our KWL chart - what we know and what we want to know. Now we are going to complete the 'L' part - what have we learned?

Recap on what we've learned:

  • Different parts of a plant and what they do (roots, stem, leaf, flower/petal)
  • Garden plants and wild plants
  • Different parts of trees (roots, trunk, branches, leaves)
  • Different types of trees (deciduous and evergreen)
  • Lifecycle of a sunflower

Today's task: Design a plants poster! You can make your poster on a A4 piece of paper, or perhaps you want to make it even bigger by attaching a few pieces paper or card together.

Here are some ideas of what to include on your poster:

  • Title including the word plants
  • Pictures of things you learned
  • Words you learned
  • Sentences
