Thursday 11th June

Good Morning Year 2

Challenge:  Listen to the audio of me reading the morning message.  Can you read along as I speak?

Miss Writer's Morning Message

Today is Thursday 11th June, 2020.  I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and enjoyed finding out more about the recycling.  Have you been educating your family about recycling?!  You should be very knowledgable now.

Yesterday was a very good day for my garden because it was raining.  It's grown a lot since the last picture I showed you.  I now have butternut squash because I ate one, saved the seeds, dried them out, planted them and they grew!

I my garden I have: cabbages, strawberries, lettuce (2 varieties), Thai basil and normal basil, rosemary, thyme, chives, parsley, rocket, mint, chili, peas, green beans, aubergines, chard, potatoes, spring onions, butternut squash, spinach, sweet peppers.  The butterflies and squirrels eat a lot of these though!

I have been doing a little experiment at my house.  I wanted to know if my seeds would germinate in a plastic bag.  About a week ago, I wet a piece of tissue and put some spinach and pepper seeds on the tissue.  I then put them in a small see through plastic bag and left them on my windowsill.  I didn't really need to water them because they created a lot of condensation but if I thought they looked dry I gave them a tiny bit of water.  What do you think happened?  If you have some seeds, maybe you could try this experiment at home and see what happens. Let me know.  I'll tell you next week!
