Good morning Year 1! Today is Thursday 14th May. We are now in Summer Term week 4.
I hope you had fun yesterday. How did you get on with the PSHE task? I know that you are all good friends in Year 1. I have seen friends caring, listening, forgiving and having lots of fun together. It makes me very proud to be your teacher! Just remember to always be kind not only to your friends but to everyone.
Today you have English, Maths and Science tasks to complete.
Let's start the day with a prayer.
The Lord's prayer, or Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Phonics and handwriting
Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.
Today we will be learning more about he suffix 'ed'. Have a go at the worksheets below.
We will be learning today all about poetry. Today you will read and enjoy the funny poem 'Twas Midnight'. Then you will highlight the pairs of words that rhyme (remember rhyming words are words that sound the same) and identify the non-rhyming words. Next, read the poem Jumble It Up!. The task is to cut off the second part of the sentence and glue them down swapped over to make ‘jumbled’ lines (A galloping horse with two whizzing wheels, etc.) Finally see if you can add a pair of funny jumbled lines of your own at the end! I can't wait to see these sentences!
Today's activity focuses on finding half 1/2 and introducing division.
Please refer to the White Rose website under Summer term - Week 1 to watch the learning video for Lesson 4: Find a half.
Can you decide if the shapes are showing half or not?
Today's activity focuses on identifying the parts of a tree and learning about different types of trees including deciduous and evergreen trees.
