Let's start the day with a prayer.
The Lord's prayer, or Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Phonics and handwriting
Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.
This week we are learning more about adding plural markers -s and -es to nouns. Remember nouns are people, places, things, animals or ideas.
For today's task practice spelling plural words by not looking. You can try the same with your spelling words.
Listen again to Super Daisy and the Peril of Planet Pea. Spell names of common vegetables. Write a sentence explaining which is your favourite vegetable.
Plan to write and draw a comic strip similar in structure and themes to Super Daisy. You need this plan for tomorrow’s lesson.
- On the Planner, write down your super character’s name and the name of the vegetable planet that is threatening the Earth, e.g. Planet Cabbage.
-What does your superhero say?
Oh no! Planet Cabbage is zooming towards Earth!
-Decide what two things your superhero uses to fight the vegetables.
What does your super character say?
I’m going to use my super strength and my super bin to defeat Planet Cabbage.
- Decide what your super character says to the veggie planet and what the veggie planet says back.
Got you, Planet Cabbage! / Oh no, my plans are ruined!
Today we are learning about half past the hour. There are 60 minutes in one hour and half (1/2) of 60 is 30. This is why we call it half past.
Can you read the clock hands in your task to decide what time it is? When it is half past the minute hand (longer hand) is always on the 6 and the hour hand (shorter hand) is always in the middle of two different numbers.
Extra challenge: Draw your own clocks showing different half past times.
Today we will be making beautiful sunflowers using a special art technique called 'printing.' We will use forks to help us do this. Grab a metal or plastic fork in your home.
If you don't have paint at home you can simply draw a sunflower and try different techniques using your coloured pencils.
You can try different flowers using the same printing technique. I can't wait to see your beautiful sunflowers. Have fun!
