Thursday 30th April

Good morning superstars!

Morning message - 30.04.20

What is the date today? Remember to use full sentences.

Let's start the day with a prayer.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.

Who has been doing PE with Joe every morning? What a fun way to wake up and get active! If you haven't tried it, now is your chance. Check out the link below.

After you've learned all about non-fiction texts in your English task today, join me for story time. I am reading a non-fiction text called Let's Look at Spring!

  • Handwriting and Phonics/reading
  • English: Non-fiction and fiction texts
  • Maths: Finding change when shopping
  • Science: Parts and functions of plants

Daily handwriting and phonics

Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day. Find more about the sound of the week (soft /g/ and hard /g/) in the phonics link below.

ENGLISH - Today's activity focuses on fiction and non-fiction texts, recording facts and writing golden sentences.

Can you figure out if The Owl and the Moon is a non-fiction or fiction text? How do you know?

Read The Owl and the Moon with Miss Tanner

Non-fiction vs Fiction

This video explores the difference between non-fiction and fiction books! It includes a fun game so you can hit pause to play.

Can you learn the nighttime rhyme Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star?

MATHS - ***Please note that money is a new topic for children covered in Summer term*** Today's activity focuses on finding change when shopping. Remember the word difference? This means we are going to subtract.

Miss Tanner has 10p. I buy some sweeties that cost me 8p. If I give the shop keeper my 10p coin, how much change will they give back to me?

This is just like saying 10 - 8, which you all know! Remember not to let the letter p trick you. All it means is that we are talking about money. It means pence.

Still confused with how to make change with money? Check out the BBC Bitesize clip below to help you more.

PSHE - Today's activity focuses on learning to manage our emotions. We feel lots of different emotions. Sometimes they are good and sometimes they are not. Even when they are not, it is okay to feel this way - like sad, angry, frustrated. The important part is to learn why we are feeling this way and ways that we can help ourselves feel happy again.

Check out BBC Bitesize for more learning on how to cope with certain emotions. I have also attached a link to our page, where I have put a useful link to Twinkls wellbeing resources. These are great for both children and adults.
