Good morning Year 1.
Can you try this silly tongue twister?
What is the date today? Remember to use full sentences.
Let’s start our day with a prayer.
Thank you Lord for this new day
in my home (school) to work and play.
Please be with me all day long,
in every story, game and song.
May all the happy things we do,
Make you our Father happy too.
Amen.
Daily handwriting and phonics/reading: Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics and continue reading each day.
Grammar: This week we are learning about homophones.
For today's task practise using your spelling words in sentences. Do you know the differences between the homophones? Remember to use your neatest handwriting and golden sentences.
English: Today we are going to do a non-fiction reading comprehension on Bats. Remember non-fiction are books that based on real facts.
First read the text and then answer the questions to show your understanding. Remember to answer using full sentences.
Maths: Today we will be revising our understanding of division again using arrays and pictures. Division is when we share groups equally.
Ben has 15 counters he would like to share with his 5 friends. If he circles 5 groups he will have 3 counters in each group. So each of his 5 friends will get 3 counters.
Enjoy the videos below then read through the learning slides (pages 32-44) and complete the worksheet. Can you try to draw your own division array?
Have a go at the division game!
Art: Today we will be making a beautiful sunshine picture using a new painting technique - dot painting. We will use cotton buds to make our dots.
If you do not have a printer or paint you can try dot printing with coloured pencils and felt tips. You can try the additional resource of dot painting a summer scene if you would like. Have fun!
