Tues 14th July

Tuesday 14th July

Good morning amazing children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!

Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

As it is our last week together in Reception, we will be celebrating with ‘themed’ days. Each day there will be a different theme. There will be a story and a variety of activities linked to each theme.

Today’s theme is Animals!

Story of the day: Listen to the story ‘The Leopard’s Drum’. Ask your adult to explain any words that you don’t understand. What happens in the story? What is your favourite part of the story? Why? You could draw a picture or write a sentence.

The Leopard's Drum read aloud

Draw your favourite animal. Why is it your favourite? What does it look like? Where does it live?

Make an animal riddle. Choose an animal to describe without saying its name! What do they look like? Where do you find them? E.g. I have four legs. I am big and grey. I have a trunk. What am I?

Write a list of animals you might find in the wild. Write a list of animals you might find in the zoo. Can you draw pictures of them?

Make animal footprints. You could use a plastic toy and paint or you could draw them.

Build a habitat (home) for an animal. Use objects from your home to build it. You could use junk modelling, Lego, Duplo etc.

Make an animal mask. You could use a piece of paper/card. Draw your outline and eyes. Can you cut it out? Can you decorate it to look like an animal? What colours will you need?
