Tues 16th June

Tuesday 16th June

Good morning amazing children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!

Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Maths: This week we will be learning about addition.

  • Star words you will need: add, addition, is equal to, equation, number, object, number bond, ten frame, part, whole, part-part-whole model

Day 2: Choose two colours and use paper to make 10 counters of each e.g. 10 blue counters and 10 red counters. Draw/print the ten frame below. Put different combinations of counters in the ‘frame’ to show different ways to make 10. Remember that you can only put one counter in each square. How many ways can you make 10? E.g. 6 blue counters and 4 red counters. Say it in a full sentence e.g. “I have 6 blue counters and 4 blue counters. 6 and 4 makes 10. 6 add 4 is equal to 10.” Can you write it as an equation? E.g. “6 + 4 = 10”.

Key questions: Can you show number bonds to 10 using the ten frame? How many different ways can you make 10? Can you say the equation in a full sentence? Can you write an equation?

Ten Frame Example

Ten Frame to Draw/Print

Phonics: Join in with the video and spell words with the Set 3 sound ea. Say the word out loud. Have a go at sounding it out to work out how many sounds are in the word e.g. t-ea tea (2 sounds). Hold up that many ‘Fred Fingers’. Say the word. Sound it out and ‘pinch’ your fingers with each sound. Write the word. Underline the ‘special friend’ ‘ea’. Check your sounds with me.

RWI Set 3 spelling ea

Literacy: Choose and draw a character from the story ‘Cinderella’- choose Cinderella or the Prince. Think of adjectives (describing words) to describe them e.g. kind, nice, handsome. Can you label your character with these words? Remember to use your ‘Fred Fingers’ when sounding out your words.

Idea of the day: Listen to the classical music from the film version of ‘Cinderella’. Pretend to be Cinderella or the Prince. Dance like you are at the ball. Can you make some small movements? Can you make some big movements?
