Good morning Year 1! Today is Tuesday 19th May. We are now in Summer Term week 5.

How did you get on with the work from yesterday? Did you make beautiful Pentecost decorations to celebrate the Church's birthday? I can't wait to see all of your  learning.

Just take a look at this lovely girl! She was very happy to receive messages from her friends on her special day. Wow look at that cake! Looks scrumptious!

Today you have English, Maths and Humanities tasks to complete. I do feel so blessed to have such a brilliant hardworking class and I know that each day you are all trying your best.

Today's Tasks

  • Suffix 'er' and 'est' worksheet
  • English
  • Maths
  • Humanities

Let's start the day with a prayer.

The Lord's prayer, or Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen.

Phonics and handwriting

Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.

Today will be focusing on the suffixes er and est.

Try adding the suffixes to the end of the words on the worksheet below.

English

Read and enjoy the story No Thank You! Look at the animals and record some adjectives to describe them in the boxes. Carefully read and cut out each of the words on the first line of In a Muddle! Re-order the words so that you have made a proper sentence, then write the four sentences in your best handwriting. Remember the rules of how to make a golden sentence.

Finally use Jumbled Words to make your own muddled-up sentences like those on In a Muddle. Give your sentences to someone who has to unscramble them!

English- Task 1-

Maths

Today's activity focuses on finding half 1/2 of shapes, objects and numbers. When we cut our whole number, shape or object in half we need to make sure that equal amounts are on both sides.

Game time! Find half of the numbers.

Humanities

Today we will be learning about a place called the Cairngorms National Park as part of UK Rivers, Seas and Mountains topic. You will be creating a fact file all about this special place.

What physical features does it have? Does it have any mountains, rivers or forests?

What wildlife does it have? Does it have reindeer, fish or birds?

What human features does it have? Does it have any roads or houses built by humans?

Does it have any towns or villages? Can you name them?

Can you think of any interesting facts? Maybe you could think about what is different about the Cairngorms National Park compared to where you live, what is the same?

Make sure you draw some beautiful pictures. I can't wait to see your glorious work!
