This week we will be learning about 2D shapes.
Words to learn:
2D shape, flat, corner, sides, straight, curved
Triangle, Square, Rectangle, Circle, Pentagon and Hexagon.
1. ‘What’s in the bag?’
Put the shapes you cut out into a bag or hide them behind a book.
Adult - describe the shape and your child can guess the shape - take this on turns with your child and or siblings.
Talk about its features e.g. it has 3 straight sides so it’s a triangle. Can you guess what shape it is?
Key questions: What is the shape called? How do you know? Can you count how many sides each shape has? Can you count how many corners each shape has? Are the sides flat or curved?
