Wed 15th July

Wednesday 15th July

Good morning fantastic children. What is the date today? I have taken a picture of our board. Remember to use a full sentence!

Daily Prayer: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

As it is our last week together in Reception, we will be celebrating with ‘themed’ days. Each day there will be a different theme. There will be a story and a variety of activities linked to each theme.

Today’s theme is Woodland!

Story of the day: Listen to the story ‘Wild’. Ask your adult to explain any words that you don’t understand. What happens in the story? What is your favourite part of the story? Why? You could draw a picture or write a sentence.

Wild read aloud

Draw a woodland picture. Can you draw plants and animals? What colours will you need?

Research plants and animals you might find in a woodland/forest. Ask an adult to help you use the internet. Can you draw pictures? Can you label your pictures?

Go on a nature walk. You could go to a park or a common. Can you go on a scavenger hunt? What can you find? Take a bag with you and collect some materials e.g. leaves, flowers, twigs.

Make a bark rubbing. You will need a piece of paper and a crayon. Choose a place on the tree trunk to put your paper. Turn your crayon on its side and rub it over the tree. What patterns do you notice?

Make a nature bracelet/necklace with the leaves you collected on your nature walk. Use a hole punch or pencil to make holes in the leaves. Thread them onto string. How much string will you need? How can you measure it?

Build a woodland scene. Use objects from your home to build it. You could use junk modelling, Lego, Duplo etc.
