Wednesday 10th June

Good Morning Year 2

Challenge:  Listen to the audio of me reading the morning message.  Can you read along as I speak?

Miss Writer's Morning Message

Today is Wednesday 10th June, 2020 and I would like to give a special welcome to Mr Griffin's class!  My morning message is always an audio and a written message - my challenge to you is to try and read as I speak.

Mr Griffin will now be teaching some of the Key Worker children in school.  He's asked his class to come to my page for your activities so WELCOME everyone!  We are very happy to have you here.

Mr Griffin's class won't know this but I have a very naughty squirrel in my garden who I might tell you about from time to time - he's called Pockel.  He's very young and he loves to play with a ball in the garden and eat my seeds.  He ate my courgettes two days ago.

On my class page, we share lots of facts and jokes in a FACT or JOKE of the day section.  If you have a fact or joke that you would like to share send it in!  I will post it.

Have a lovely day!  Miss Writer

Joke of the Day!

How does a scientist freshen her breath?

With experi-mints!

Start the day at 9am with PE with JOE

Morning Prayer

Father in heaven You love me.

You are with me night and day.

I want to love You always,

In all I do and say.

I'll try to please You Father.

Bless me through the day.

Your tasks today:

Activity 1 - Maths

Go to Lesson 2 - Find a half

1.  Listen to the video and answer the questions.

2. Open the worksheet below and answer the questions.

3.  Check your answers below.  Did you get it right?

Activity 2 - English

Do you do any cooking at home?  Do you know how to make a pizza or cup cakes?  Would you know how to teach someone else how to make them?  Today you are going to be looking at recipes again and writing instructions.

Read the Question Booklet for Day 3 and work through the booklet.

Challenge:  Write your favourite recipe to share with someone in your family.  Remember to make sure it is clear and accurate using bossy verbs and adverbs (slowly, carefully, gently).  You don't want them to end up with a mud pie!

Music Break

Go to Ms Hume's Music Page and have fun joining in with her latest music session at the very bottom of the page:

Activity 3 - Science

Today we are going to learn about recycling.  What happens to your rubbish and what happens to the waste that you put in the recycling bin.

1.  Watch this video to learn more about the recycling process (this lady is American so remember she says trash and garbage instead of rubbish!)

2.  Now watch this video about what you CAN and CAN't recycle in your food shopping.   When you do your recycling, check that you are putting the right things in the recycling bin.  I know I sometimes forget!

3.  Design a colourful poster for your home that reminds your family to what they can put in the recycling bin.  Remember what the lady said about recycling crunchy plastic?  If you can crunch it up, you can't recycle it.

Here are some ideas for what to put on your posters:

Challenge:  Take the quiz to test your recycling knowledge.
