Wednesday 15th July

Good Morning Year 2

Challenge:  Listen to the audio of me reading the morning message.  Can you read along as I speak?

Miss Writer's Morning Message

Today is Wednesday 15th July, 2020.

I hope you had a lovely day yesterday. It was so nice to speak with with you and learn about your different toys or dolls and what their hobbies are, what they are good at but very interestingly, what they do when they're not behaving.  Some toys were very chatty and some were very shy.

Just to remind you, on Friday, we have our last meeting of the year and very soon, Miss Pluckrose will be sending you a letter introducing you to your new teacher.

Going up to Year 3 or Year 3/4 is a big move as you will be going upstairs and you will be in the Lower Juniors!  HOWEVER...  You are with your friends and you are all moving up together.  You will be learning so many interesting and exciting things.  You will even be able to work towards a pen licence.

On Friday, you can ask me questions about next year.  What it will be like, do you have any worries or do you have things you're really excited about?  I do not know who your new teacher is yet but we can have a guess!

Have a lovely day.

Joke of the Day!

Why are fish so smart?

Because they live in schools!

Start the day at 9am with a 10 minute kids workout class!

Morning Prayer

Father in heaven You love me.

You are with me night and day.

I want to love You always,

In all I do and say.

I'll try to please You Father.

Bless me through the day.

Amen

Activity 3 - Sports Day

As we are not at school and can not have sports day, today's challenge is this:  Can you hold a plank for 1 minute.  Good Luck!

Extra challenge:

How long can you hold a plank for?  Can you time yourself?

Activity 4 - Science

Did you do the clean hand/dirty hand bread experiment?  What have you discovered about clean hands?  What happened to the bread?

  • You will have noticed that the control bread had no mould.
  • The clean hands bread (washed with soap) had very, very little mould.
  • The unwashed hands bread will probably have lots and lots of mould!

So...  You can see that the germs on your unwashed hands go onto the bread and this creates the mould!   This is why we need to wash our hands.

Today we are going to do another science experiment looking at why it is important to wash your hands with soap and warm water.

Watch this video and see if you can do it at home.  You will need:

Equipment:

  • Bowl of water
  • Pepper
  • Dirty unwashed hands
  • Clean hands washed with soap
