Miss Writer's Morning Message

Today is Wednesday 24th June, 2020.

Yesterday, you hopefully all received your username and password for Google Classroom.  I will set up our first meeting on Friday 26th June.  Please find your name below and see which group you are in.

Your tasks today:

Activity 1 - Maths

Go to Lesson 3 - Four operations with length

1.  Listen to the video and answer the questions.

2. Open the worksheet below and answer the questions.

3.  Check your answers below.  Did you get it right?

Activity 2 - English

You are going to look at the story My Uncle is a Hunkle for ONE LAST TIME.   I promise - the last time...

Today, we are going to be using commas.  When do you use a comma.  Why?

Watch the video one last time (if you need to) and then answer the questions in the Question Booklet for Day 3.

Activity 3 - Science

Today we will be looking at plastic and the affect it has on our environment and animals.  We have been talking a lot about REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE.  Plastic is something that we must reduce our use of.

Plastic is cheap and easy to make things with.  Lots of your toys are plastic!  Did you know that some scientists say that plastic NEVER really goes away.  Microbes in the ground can't eat plastic.  They can eat paper, food waste, wood and pretty much most things and eventually they will rot and decompose.  But plastic.  No.  It just stays there.

1) Watch the video to learn more about plastic pollution then answer the questions.

In your books, answer the following questions:

1) How long does plastic take to go away?

2) Where does a lot of plastic end up?

3) What happens if plastic goes in the sea?

4) What plastic items can you see in your house?

5) What are single-use plastic items?

6) Can you find any single-use plastic items in your house?  (plastic sandwich bags, straws, plastic cutlery).

7) What else could you use instead of plastic for these items?

2) Now watch this video to see how these children are helping stop plastic pollution to save our oceans.  What can you do to help?
