Good morning my wonderful Year 1’s
What is the date today? Remember to use full sentences.
Let's start the day with a prayer. Who remembers the prayer we say in school? We can change the word school to home.
Thank you Lord for this new day
in my home (school) to work and play.
Please be with me all day long,
in every story, game and song.
May all the happy things we do,
Make you our Father happy too.
Amen.
Can you believe that this picture is from yesterday in Canada!? My mummy sent some pictures of the recent snowfall they had. It’s snowing in the spring time! Can you spot my dog? Her name is Bailey. She loves playing in the snow.
Who has been doing PE with Joe every morning? What a fun way to wake up and get active! If you haven't tried it, now is your chance. Check out the link below.
Daily handwriting and phonics
Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day. Find more about the sound of the week (soft /g/ and hard /g/) in the phonics link below.
ENGLISH - Today's activity focuses on following instructions, identifying key features and writing your own set of instructions.
MATHS - ***Please note that money is a new topic for children covered in Summer term*** Today's activity focuses on adding 10p and 20p to prices. Can you remember what the letter p means when we talk about money?
You already know how to add 10 to a number on a number square by going 1 box down. When you add 20 you will do 2 boxes down. Again, don't let the letter p trick you. This is just like adding 2 numbers together, which we have practised lots! Use a number square to help you.
SCIENCE - Today's activity focuses on parts and functions of plants. What are the different parts of a plant? What is the job of each part? Just like the parts of our body all have a special job - our ears help us listen and our nose helps us smell things - the parts of plants all have special jobs too.
