Wednesday 3rd June

Good morning Year 1! Today is Wednesday 3rd June. We are now in Summer term 2, week 1.

June really is a wonderful month as we are almost in our new season of Summer. June is a special month for me because my granny was called June as she was born on a beautiful June day. She was always a sunny person too, how wonderful is that?

Just remember if you are finding it tricky at home that you are somebody's reason to smile. You certainly make me smile!

Today you have Grammar, English, Maths and PSHE tasks to complete. Have an amazing day children!

Let's start the day with a prayer.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

Phonics and handwriting

Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day.

There are 7 days in the week. Sunday is the first day of a new calendar week. Monday is the first day of a new school week.

Days of the Week Lesson for Kids | The Singing Walrus

Today we will enjoy listening to the story The River Race. Write using golden sentences reasons why you liked The Race Across the River. In your sentence, use the word because to give reasons. Then do the same for River Race. After that, say which you think was the best story, and why you feel that.

Remember we use because to join two clauses in a sentence together.

Finally tell a simple version of the story of the animals’ race across the river! Make sure you use a loud, clear and slow voice. Ensure that your story has a beginning, middle and end.

In our PSHE lesson today we will be learning about what makes you proud to be British.

We all live in Great Britain.

Britain has many beautiful buildings, important places and events, and British people who have achieved amazing things.

Today you will be drawing pictures to show what it is like to live in Britain. Then you will be writing beautiful golden sentences about about what makes you proud to be British.
