Good morning Year 1!
We're almost at the end of our 4 day week.
What is the date today? Remember to use full sentences.
May is the month of Mary.
Let’s start our day with a prayer.
Thank you Lord for this new day
in my home (school) to work and play.
Please be with me all day long,
in every story, game and song.
May all the happy things we do,
Make you our Father happy too.
Amen.
Come join me for story time. Today we're reading The Cautious Caterpillar.

Daily handwriting and phonics
Please aim for 30 minutes (15 each) of handwriting and phonics per day. Find more about the words of the week (prefix -un and compound words) in the phonics link below. Today's grammar activity focuses on compound words.
ENGLISH - Today's activity focuses on sequencing events from a story and creating a story map.
This story uses lots of positional language words like over and under.
Try the extra challenge below on positional language. These words tell us where something is. We can also use direction words to tell us which way, like left, right, up and down.
MATHS - Today's activity focuses on adding 3 numbers together. Remember when we add we are counting forwards. Use your knowledge of numbers bonds to 10 and doubling numbers to help you. You can add 2 numbers together and then add on the 3rd number.
First let's recap on our number bonds to 10. These are all the number pairs that make 10. Who remembers? Sing along
We know that 4 + 6 = 10 because it’s a number bond.
Now we can take our 10 and add 8 more. What’s 10 + 8?
SCIENCE - Today's activity focuses on identifying a variety of common plants. Do you know the names of any garden plants or wild plants?
