  1. Re-tell/ or re-read the story The Little Red Hen.
  2. What happens in the story? What do the characters do? What do they say?
  3. Choose and draw a character from the story Hansel and Gretel.
  4. What does the character say?
  5. Can you draw a speech bubble?
  6. Write sentences to show what the character said. This can be exact words from the story or you can use your imagination and write what you think the character might say!
  7. You can do one character or more than one character.

 

Remember to use your fingers to sound out the words, use finger space between each word, write on the line and use a full stop at the end of the sentence.

Maths

 

This week we will be learning about halving.

  • Star words you will need: half, halving, parts, whole, part-part-whole model, objects, shape, amount, sharing, divide, equal, groups, fraction

 

  1. Halving means sharing into two equal groups.
  2. We are dividing the whole into two equal parts.
  3. Half means one of two equal parts.
  4. Two halves make a whole.
  5. Look at the picture of the circle for an example.
  6. Print/draw the shapes below.
  7. Can you cut the shapes in half?
  8. Can you cut the shapes into two equal parts?
  9. What does halving mean?
  10.  Explain what you are doing in full sentences. E.g. “I have a circle. This is the whole. I cut the circle in half. Now I have two equal parts. Two parts make the whole.”

 

Key questions: Can you cut the shape in half? Can you cut the shape into two equal parts? Where do you need to cut it? Is there another way you could cut it? What is halving?

Look at God’s story/picture:

Read the words: Let’s sing to God

Let’s praise God together!

Ask your child: can you name where the people are singing?

(A choir at church, a party, in the bath, at school, at home, with a friend)

 

Where do you like to sing? Do you know a song about God? Can you sing some of it?

 

Explain that one of the wonderful things we praise God for is water. It is a precious gift from God and we need to use it well and not waste it.

 

Ask your child:

Why is water so precious? (important)

What can we do to help save water?

When and how often do we use water? (brushing teeth, washing dishes and clothes, flushing toilet, shower, drinking)

 

Talk about how we are all part of God’s family. God made people equal. We all share in God’s wonderful world and we should take of it together.

 

Pray to God:

Dear God,

We praise and thank you for your wonderful world.

Task:

 

  1. Draw a circle and add in the land and water to look like a globe
  2. Can you think of 5 ways to help look after our world?
  3. Write you’re your ideas in a sentence. For example: I can look after the world by putting my rubbish in the bin.
  4. If you wish, you can draw a picture beside your sentence.
