Goodbye Year 1AT
Thank you for the lovely gifts and nice words. It was very thoughtful and I am so appreciative. Thank you to all of the parents for welcoming me to St Mary's in January as I stepped in to teach your children. I loved every minute of it and enjoyed watching the children grow and learn over the last few months. They have come so far and I am proud of each one of them. I will miss them all very much!!
I wish everyone a happy and safe summer holiday! I look forward to seeing you all in September as you move up to Yr 2! : )
Look how much you've grown in Yr 1!

Congratulations to all Year 1s for completing the Phonics Screening. I am very proud of you all for your hard work, well done! Results will come with your child's reports.
The children will read 40 words and will need to correctly sound out a certain percentage to pass. We will be practising lots and lots in school but reading every evening is vital in helping the children become more confident with their sounds and blending.
In Year 1 children are on Phase 5 sounds
This video gives you an idea of what the phonics screen is.
We are trying to get as many bronze, silver and GOLD certificates as we can for the last term of Y1! Remember, it is all about how consistent you are doing activities on Mathletics.
Please encourage your childs use of Mathletics at home. This is a great resource for practising a variety of Maths concepts. I will be assigning specific work that is related to topics we are covering in class. You can find the link and student logins below.

Reading
Please ensure your child has their reading records and reading books in their book bags everyday as they may be heard any day of the week. Please read with your child every night. Below are ideas for questions to ask your child when reading together.
New homework is sent home every Friday. This includes the following weeks spelling words and we will alternate between a Maths and English activity each week. Please ensure homework books are brought back to school on Monday.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday so please ensure the children have the correct uniform for those days. The children keep their PE kit in school and take it home to be cleaned at the end of each term.
Tuck Shop
Tuck shop is on Tuesday and Thursday and is 20p for a piece of fruit.
