Summer Term

A big thank you to all the family and friends who came to our Liturgy this morning; the turn out was superb! If you have any photos you would like to share please send them in with your child on a USB or CD and I will upload them onto our class page for those who were unable to attend. Regards, Mr Elgey.
The phonics screen will take place on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th for all Year 1 children. Please focus on reading and the sounds this weekend and ensure your child is well rested.

Please find pictures from both the trip to the Science Museum and the Pantomime 'Aladdin' below.
Mr Elgey.

Year 1 AE have now completed over 100 hours on mathletics! Well done and keep it up!

We have now got full access to Mathletics which is an interactive website for the
children to use at home. It has a brilliant range of games and activities
to help the children with their maths. I can see their scores and results and
check up on what they're finding tricky so I can help them with any concepts they
are finding hard to grasp.

We have been practising our number bonds to 10.

Can you remember your number bonds to 10?

We are still practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. There are links below to songs which will help you to remember them!

In our first week back we have been learning about The Gingerbread Man. We wrote the story from the point of view of the fox:

One day I was relaxing by the river when I saw a gingerbread man. I thought that he looked really yummy. I had a cunning plan! I decided to pretend to help the gingerbread man by carrying him across the river but I will eat him. The gingerbread man reached the river but he couldn’t swim across. I said to the gingerbread man, “I will help you to cross the river.” He climbed on my back then he climbed on my nose. Once we reached the other side I tossed him into the air and snap!! That was the end of the gingerbread man.

Continue to practise learning your phonics sounds using the games below.

In literacy we use the Read Write Inc scheme. Each week there is a new book for the children to read in detail with a new grammatical focus.

In R.E we have been thinking about how we have changed since we joined St Mary's in Reception.
Since Reception we:
- have become more sensible
- have learnt lots of new things
- have made lots of friends
- have tried hard to be good
- have got taller
