Science Week: Sustainability and Energy
Tuesday 6th June
Wow! We have had a great start to St Mary’s Science Week.
So far, the children have enjoyed: painting Earth globes in Nursery, sorting recyclable and non-recyclable materials in reception; designing energy saving posters in Year 1; doing junk modelling in Year 2; taking part in a recycling quiz in the Lower Juniors and learning more about deforestation; making solar ovens and measuring how much weight biodegradables bags can hold in the Upper Juniors.
We are very much looking forward to having the Wandsworth Recycling Centre in on Wednesday and Thursday to complete workshops with classes across the school, while the Lower Junior classes are excited to visit the recycling centre and see how things work first hand.
Friday 9th June
The children have continued to enjoy the week and learn lots more about how we can be more sustainable in our everyday lives. We hope that they can use this new knowledge to make a difference to the world we live in!
Stay tuned for more photos, showing what other activities the children have been taking part in this week.

Year 6 have loved science week and learning all about energy and sustainability. They have learnt about rubbish, and collated data on this, the oceans and the role that plastic plays in ocean pollution and famous conservationists! A busy but brilliant week. Thank you Debra for the plastic workshop and thank you Mrs Benedykt for organising the week.
